Getting Around from Natland Caravan Park: Buses, Paths & Connections

If you’re staying with us here at Natland Caravan Park, you’ll find that we’re perfectly placed for exploring Kendal, the Lake District, and beyond — whether you’re travelling by bus, train, car, or on foot.

By Train

One of the biggest advantages of our location is how close we are to Oxenholme Railway Station — just over a mile away. Oxenholme sits on the West Coast Main Line, which means you can hop on a train north to Carlisle or Glasgow, or head south to Lancaster, Preston and Manchester. It’s also the main station for accessing the Lake District, with easy links to Windermere.

By Car

We’re only a few miles from Junction 36 of the M6 motorway, making us very easy to reach by car and a great base for day trips. Kendal town centre is just a short drive away, and from there you can head deeper into the Lakes or out towards the Yorkshire Dales.

By Bus

Natland is served by several bus routes that connect the village with Kendal, Arnside, Kirkby Lonsdale and other nearby towns. Bus stops are within easy walking distance of the park, so it’s simple to leave the car behind and explore by public transport.

Do note that services are more frequent during weekdays, with fewer buses in the evenings and at weekends, so it’s always worth checking times before you set out.

On Foot & By Bike

One of the real joys of staying at Natland Caravan Park is how many walks and cycle routes start right from our doorstep.

  • Walking: You can stroll into Kendal in around 40 minutes, or head up The Helm for panoramic views across the countryside. Riverside and woodland paths offer gentler routes, perfect for a quiet afternoon wander.

  • Cycling: We’re right on National Cycle Network Routes 6 and 70, so you’ve got safe and scenic rides in both directions.

There are also plans locally to keep improving “active travel” links between Kendal, Oxenholme and Natland, so walking and cycling will only get easier.

Taxis & Local Travel

For those times when buses don’t quite fit your plans, taxis are readily available to take you into Kendal, to Oxenholme Station, or further afield.
